It IS a great album but it's too miserable for me at my point in life. Enjoy.

Posted in this thread over a year ago and figured I'd update as I have discovered a lot of really great music over that span and my standards have been raised and my tastes have changed some. I believe there are many other albums that could qualify for this list by containing no filler so to keep my post manageable I limited myself to albums that I feel are truly special for one reason or another. The bold albums are ones that I put in a tier all by themselves.

Big Black - Atomizer
Brian Eno - Another Green World

Cut Copy - Bright Like Neon Love

In Flames - The Jester Race
Joy Division - Closer

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted

Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure

Talking Heads - Talking Heads '77

Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
Talking Heads - Remain in Light

The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in The Sky

The Cranberries - Everybody Else is Doing it, So Why Can't We

The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
Old post, but this is a good list. I'd probably bold For Your Pleasure too!

GREAT list.

I know I might catch some flac for this, but I LOVE Muse's Black Holes and Revelations. The rest of their work is alright, but I always come back to Back Holes.

And I know live albums aren't supposed to count, but I love Foo Fighters Skin and Bones album as well. Another go to of mine.

I love Muse, and BH&R, but I could never seem to really like every song off of a Muse album; OoS and BH&R come close but aren't quite there for me.

Can't believe nobody has put Kendrick - To Pimp a Butterfly on here yet!  I can't get enough of that one.  Several others recently that are outstanding, but not "flawless"

Thought of this thread whilst listening today...

This looks like a bad cover (excuse the pun) or do mix of dark side of the moon

Just found this great thread. Off the cuff, I'd say:

Jimi Hendrix - Axis Bold As Love
Dr. Dog - B-Room
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
White Stripes - Icky Thump
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Brother Ali - Shadows On The Sun

A few Beatles and Pink Floyd albums for sure.

I really want Yo La Tengo on this list, but I have to be honest and admit to myself that there is at least one song on every LP that I could skip without feeling guilty.

And then there is this album from Duluth, MN called "Who's Beach" by a band called Crew Jones. I'm not trying to get hipster obscurity points here. If there is a default soundtrack to my life, this is it. If you know this album, I hope you know what I'm talking about.
