What is the best free (not trial) software I can get for Flac to MP3?

Foobar...It can do it all....... Wash your car if you let it...lol

foobar is indeed great
 
It doesn't do it all however I was looking to convert ape to flac and don't think foobar does that. Of course I didn't check but I'm willing to overlook that little detail.

Absolutely...I stopped using ape a long time ago because it is probably the only codec that is buggy with Rockbox.  Just make sure you install the ape.dll in Foobar and you'll be set.
