My old Stax Lambda Pro's ( 80's ) are starting to rattle...they sound good otherwise. I think the diaphragms have lost tension--they appear wrinkled & not taut like a drumskin.

I read somewhere about a solution that may have been intended for full size estatic speakers: take a HAIRDRYER to them ( to tighten the diaphragms up )!

Any thoughts on this radical surgery ?

The hairdryer trick is for quad esl 63 electrostatic speakers.
It tightens the outside protective diaphrams. The real
working element is already quite tight, hitting it with a hair
dryer makes it disappear real quick.

Same thing with the stax elements. The outside covers are
supposed to be a little loose.
