I have a Ipod 5.5 classic which is in pretty bad shape(externally anyway)
It works alright but recently the headphone jack has been acting up.

So i am trying to decide on a couple options:

1) purchase and replace the jack and the back and front plates (about $25)

2)buy a LOD and replace the front and back(about $50)

3)buy a new player Zune HD($150) Zune 80($120), something other (??) No more Than $150 max.

I have a pair of M50's coming to use with this so want to figure something out soon.

Mostly interested in a player for music.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

well if you get an LOD, you will always have a fixed volume.
another option, a better one, imo, could be to get an LOD and an amp

something other (??)
---------------

Why not buy another 5.5?

You can buy from ebay, very good condition (or recon) units for under your budget.

That's if you like the 5.5 of course.

Just looking to get away from Apple i think(maybe).
I got rid of iTunes because it was a pain and Rockboxed my current iPod but not sure if i like the interface much.
Also, trying to find another option with better sound...hopefully.
Thanks for the reply.

Which case, I'd go 3).

All I can reccomend is a few players that I have owned.

Cheap - Sansa Fuze, primarily because it has a L/O so you can upgrade your chain later.
Expensive - Cowon J3, has no L/O but the H/O is of superb quality.

All the best.

the J3 is very nice but also defintiely out of the OP's budget.
