Congrats Tapiozona!! I found mine more detailed and dynamic after the wood cups and mods.

That would be difficult job to pull - the D1000 shape is oval, not good for lathe turning.

It was mostly in jest but it would be kinda neat.

And yeah getting those made probably cost nearly as much as the headphones themselves.

Thanks for the good words everyone. Half the fun is being able to show them. Appreciate it.

Like they said. If they weren't oval I'd do it. Limited to round objects

Very nice! Any reason for choosing zebra-wood?

Mainly because out of all the hardwoods it had the coolest grain and greatest contrast of light and dark. I bought 2 other turning blocks in different varieties which I'll get started on next. Both are much darker woods and more my taste in color.

Don't suppose you could make a photo log of how the work was done??

I didn't keep a detailed photo record but I do have some pictures which were taken along the way, but they're at home on my camera so will have to do that part later. I also came the the conclusion that the method I used for part of it was wasteful and slow and clunky and for future iterations would do it differently (with regards to the tabs inside the cups which the scew holes go into).

Very Nice work!

I am calling for you and Aura to do a shoot-out!
I have heard the set Aura did and if yours are even somewhat similar, you have some very nice sounding cans there.

Do you have any issues with weight? the set Aura made was kinda heavy - sounded sweet though.

Ya. My only issue is weight. I was a little timid to try and make the cups as shallow as humanly possible on the lathe for fear i'd punch through the cups. Before I added the dynamat I did manage to get them to weigh almost the same as the stock plastic cups. (The stock cups have decent weight to them because of a thick rubberish pad which is stuck to the inside of them)
But once I added the dynamat it got a lot heavier.

They did but I really meant woodied d2000's, I think there's at least 5 guys who's posted theirs already, who knows how many how there are

Understood. But Darths is Darths and woodied cans is woodied cans. It's not the same.

About to start my second pair of woodies for these. Right now I only have Padauk hardwood at home but if I can find some 2 inch boards of Cocobolo Rosewood I'd use that in a heartbeat. Hopefully lessons learned from the first will knock off 3/4 of the overall build time. If I can get it down to being more 'fun' than 'work', I'd be open to make em for others.
