Here is the breakdown of Grados as best as I can offer. Im a newbie so take it with a grain of salt:

SR60: Detailed, Light Bass
SR80: Detailed, Tighter Bass
SR125: More Detailed, Tighter Bass, Somewhat Bright, good separation
SR225: Very Detailed, Liquid Mids, Tight Bass, great separation
SR 325i: Very Detailed, Very Bright, Very Low Bass, good separation

RS2: Very warm and Detailed, Excellent Separation, Deep/Warm Bass
RS2: Very warm and Detailed, Excellent Separation, Deep/Warm Bass
(very tough to distinguish between the two)

GS1000: um.....cannot be described in mere words.

Agreed, but it doesn't take long to get used to them (tho some never do it's true) - and bowls get you to the basshead mod! Cheapest mod there is, almost - couple bits of tape (insulation/whatever) round the outside of each bowl & voila - more bass impact....

My first night with SR60 was amazing. Those were my very first "serious" phones and they shed some light on what music should sound like. It's a very strong reference point in a beginners setup and should not be overlooked, IMHO. They are not the most natural sounding phones on the planet but sure can make you smile every time you put them on your head.
