Hi fellow head-fiers - I'd like to share something you might find interesting.

A few years ago, I moved to a very rural area in Virginia because this beautiful farm house had a detached room that the previous owners used as an outdoor gym. I immediately saw it and had ideas of turning it into a recording studio. Somewhere I could play and record away from the main house. Well, over the last two years, I accumulated tons of gear and slowly put together what has turned out to be a really special place. To finish it off, my dad painted this amazing Dark Side of the Moon album cover that puts it over the top.

Details about the gear for the gearheads-

The recording studio is centered around a RME UCXII audio interface, which I've expanded with ADAT with the Arturia AudioFuse 8Pre expander for a staggering total of 40 channels, 20 input and 20 output channels.

I have headphone amplifiers at each station, mostly Topping L50s, giving every musician control of their levels. The RME TotalMix software also lets me provide each headphone output with a custom mix, so I can turn up drums or keys for one musician without impacting the others.

Studio headphones I have around the room include the Sennheiser 280 Pro, Audio Technical ATHM50X, Denon AHD5200 (my faves in the studio), and a couple Sennheiser open backs from the 5xx/6xx range.

Microphones that I use include the Rode NT1, Sennheiser E965, and of course the Shure SM7B. For the drummer, I have a headset broadcast microphone Audio-Technica BPHS1, which does double duty as headphones as well.

My main instruments include my Yamaha CP300 stage piano, Akai midi controller, Fender Jazz Bass, Hofner Club Bass, Fender acoustic guitar, Fender Stratocaster, Alesis strike pro SE e-drum kit, and a Roli Seaboard.

The DAW I have been using is Reaper, along with several software synths for sound patches and effects.

I also have a speaker playback system consisting of JBL Studio 580s, SVS SB16 Ultra subwoofer, speakers being driven by a Peachtree Amp500.

I think that's about it...let me know if you guys have any questions or comments! This was really a labor of love and I'm hoping to make a lot more music in there now that it's done.

Looks like my dream studio, that I never managed to build. Wow! beautiful and inspiring room. Its definitly not boring. Motivating!

Have you tried Rupert RNDI(DI) for guitar/bass. If not please see if you can audition one. I would like your opinion. My own opinion is that my cheap guitar and bass(not 1000 dollars in total for both) sound more expensive than they should. I had a Sandberg active bass ones for over1700 euros, and my Harley Benton 5 string just gives me the vibe with this DI(600euros for RNDI and the bass).

Wow, looks cool! I'd like to have my own home studio like this one day. Unfortunately, I don't have enough money for good equipment at the moment. However, I don't give up this idea. I even thought about taking a loan, but something holds me after reading these statements about bad credit score. I've decided to try to increase my credit score, save more, and make up a strategy or even business plan. Then I'll definitely get a studio of my dream. So for the moment, I'll borrow some of your DIY ideas for my future studio.
