I popped in to a pro-audio shop today in Sheffield called "Sound Control" and asked them about USB Audio devices.
They tried to sell me an all singing, all dancing thing for £150 that seemed to be much more about inputs than outputs... When I turned my nose up at the price, they showed me an M-Audio model for about £80 iirc, but they said they have recently had some of these returned... So I was about to leave the shop, when he mentioned that Edirol did a cheaper alternative.
I ended up getting the Edirol UA-1X, and I'm very impressed with it so far.
It didn't come with any drivers, so I've just let Windows XP sort it all out.
I'm not too bothered about the input on it, but it might come in useful one day.
The quality sounds excellent through iTunes->Foobar2000Engine with none of the crackles that my el cheapo USB Audio nugget gave me.
Best £60 I've spent in a few days lol
