I have used it since its beginnings but am very frustrated they refuse to integrate streaming services. I really like Qobuz so I tried Audirvana and it is a much better interface than JRiver. The Qobuz integration is really nice, I now listen to new music every day and can still access my own large collection. Also the remote for the tablet is a much better interface than JRemote.

This is not about sound as I really don't believe one of these sound better as my DAC takes care of isolation and reclocking. It is too bad JRiver invests so much in non-music related features (TV and Video) and doesn't upgrade the music services.

I know, some of you will say "what took you so long" :)

So true, quit upgrading after v28, the only "new" features they add is TV and Video nonsense, which no one cares about really.

Same. I've been using JRiver for over a decade but v31 will be my last until they get with the times. I love the software but when other alternatives offer more it's hard to justify using it.

Yeah, it's the absolute best audiophile 4k player on the market.
Watching movies on my system is a mushroom trip :)
I'd care about the video player aspect if they had a somewhat decent interface. Would save me from running a 5 year old version of Kodi DSPlayer just to have MadVR.

As for some, I WAS using it to play videos/movies (online and offline). JRiver can use your DAC and some (ASIO driver, Upsampling, VST plug-ins) while watching. Having a dedicated streamer/format converter/upsampler made me stop using JRiver anymore. Plus other things: now using Roon + HQPlayer, Matt retiring, Matt's defiance in integratigng new features instead of focusing non essential /dying functions (ie TV).

I'm a JRiver user (JRMC 32) and I actually don't care about the video features as I don't do video streaming of any kind on PC. Also don't care about added music streaming services as I don't use those as well since I like to play my own music content from my own ripped CDs.

Personally, I hope they don't add other streaming services, but that's me. That said, I do Spotify, but I only use it to preview stuff I wish to buy to add to my collection.

What do you watch there, torrent downloads, it does not integrate with video streaming services either?
I rip my blu rays myself and watch them. Mostly music ones. Think: Pink Floyd Delicate Sound of Thunder, or Blu Ray Audios. I even occasionally have played movies (4K movies, regular Blu Rays, even DVDs.) I have quite a few of all of these. It is the only player that can do what I want which is play the backups from Make MKV with the menus and play the sound to my DAC. As well as my SACD rips I made myself, and CD rips, too. If you can find me another player that can do all that, I am all ears. And don't say Kodi, cause that doesn't work.

Market has moved though. Very nice animated chart showing music media distribution over years. Hard to argue with the numbers.

This is how I feel about MusicBee. I switched from Foobar to MusicBee after Foobar deleted all of my custom settings for the 10th time, MusicBee is great for organizing your local music and internet radio. That is all I want it for. When I want streaming I alt-tab to the Spotify app. I don't want them integrated at all. All that will do is bloat MusicBee and slow it down.
