As the thread title suggests, I am finally able to buy a pair of audeze LCD-2, but I am paralyzed by the different models and iterations available. Can someone lay out which models are recommended and which to avoid. Also what is a reasonable amount to pay for a used pair. I just don't know which models sound like what between the LCD2C, the prefazor, the 2.2, etc. Thanks in advance for the help

I’d go with a 2016 or later version, it has new drivers, more reliable, also a warmer sound signature compared to 2014/15 models.
Or a LCD-2C, which is supposed to be a little warmer.

Umm,just wrong.
The LCD-2.2 pf is the warmest LCD-2 Audeze made. How do I know,I called Audeze and asked them directly.
The fazor model doesnt sound anywhere as good as the PF IMO.

2014/15 models ARE fazor, the first ones actually, and they’re not as warm as the 2016 models. They lack the bass extension and have much more presence in the 2 to 6khz area.

I did not mention anything about pre-fazor, nor I said the 2016 are the warmest LCD-2 ever created.

Sorry,I misunderstood you then. The 2.2pf was the last model prior to fazor. Im, not going to get into the fazor vs. pf war as its pointless and well documented.
Again to OP if you want the classic LCD-2 sound try and track down a 2.2pf
