So happy. I've been jealous of the Rockbox firmware that the old Archos' had for a while, but no more... now off to download it and see if it is any good.

Very cool so far... most of the stuff is a little 'work in progress' but it has potential. Lets see... snake, tetris, sokoban, minesweeper, breakout... and a promising looking mario-like platformer for games. There is a text viewer and they have made the computer interface easier to use. They have a cool fractal program that draws the mandlebrot set and some twirling boxes and flames and stuff.

Question for the programmers out there. Do you think it would be possible to make a software hack to turn the headphone out into a line out? Also I was wondering if there is anything that could be done software wise to make the digital out better or even changes just to the player [work some fubar magic on it]. This is making me want to program again.

Well, I seem to be the only one interested in this, but I figured I would post this here just in case. The avOs, while interesting has not had much development for the last while. Another project, LinAv, is getting regular updates and their new package is quite impressive.

You're not posting in vain, I've been following this thread closely, but the Av320 I've ordered isn't even in stock yet, so there's not much I can comment about these hacks... It seems like over half of america doesn't have any devices in stock right now.

How does the second OS compare feature-wise to the first one you posted?
