So they improved again their air damping technology. I had some trouble with the D8000 series hitting the magnet on some units, but if they added more space, that's more room for bass, that could be insane for the price, looking forward to try them !
Per the reviewer: D7000 bass > D8000 - more energy in the bass region, great for pop music, great for male vocals, D8000 treble > D7000. But he never made clear if that was D8000 or D8000 Pro. Comparisons were also made to the DCA E3. Hopefully, I get to try the D7000 this weekend.
I had a few minutes to spare before going to dinner so I have it a very brief listen. An important point to now is that I prefer a lot of energy at the top. I still enjoy the HD800 and quite enjoyed the HD800S that I also listened briefly to yesterday. I found the top end to roll off too much for my tastes. But that may mean that it will be preferable to many others on here. I'll give it another go when I have more time.
Agree with Rayzilla re top end roll off. That being said, the D7000 was preferable for me to the D8000 Pro. I recall during my time in Japan when I listened to the D8000 Pro and 009S, the top end was too "hot" (I don't know which word to use) for me - but I watched several reviews and don't think any reviewers called D8000 Pro treble hot, so maybe just me... Also, not an equal comparison as the playlists were fixed.

I haven't listened to the D8000 Pro since it was released but I remember thinking to myself that it would be my next TOTL headphone. It does a lot of things the way I like it, including the top end.
It's not just you though. I've read in a few places, not reviewers though, say that it was too hot at the top end for them. Lucky you to prefer the D7000 over D8000 Pro.
Final says, the D7000 is a 'different take on a flagship sound'. All of this for around 2K.
I wonder, how different the 7 is to the 8 series. Also, perhaps the market is getting a bit more 'sane' with flagship releases around 2K instead of 4K-6K? Let's hope.
