I voted I Suck, but I'm still pretty sure Tool is a band. Filter I'm not sure about.

filter makes great music. but i don't think both of them should be compared. tool is way up there on the ladder. filter is just an offspring of reznor.

Umm, maybe Filter's first album. The last couple of Filter discs really don't even compare to Nine Inch Nails. Richard Patrick has taken the band in a much more guitar oriented direction than the first album. I guess I don't think Filter and reznor should be compared either.

of course. if you'll let a n00b listen to nin's and filter's latest discs, he'd never even say they're close. what i was implying about "offspring" is not "sound alike" but "sprung from". i think you know where patrick got it's roots. anyhoo, filter sounds wayyy better now compared to shortbus.
