Hi all,

New to the forum, so sorry if this is in the wrong place. Just a heads-up that I bought a KA11 on AliExpress from the Fiio store. Really disappointed. I have the lightning version. Sound was absolutely fantastic when I first plugged it in. Then after about half an hour of use, the left channel went to a low volume level with heavy distortion. Same thing happened on one or two further uses. Now when I plug it in to the iPhone (11 pro) although the light comes on, audio is not rerouted out of the DAC, and just continues to come out of the iPhone internal speaker. I have tried to raise a dispute on AliExpress three times - but the best they offered was to return the DAC to china at my own expense. I paid around €30, and that is almost the exact cost to return it to China from Belgium. So a lousy first experience for me of Fiio. Faulty product, and a refusal to do the right thing. Quite surprised as they have a lot of fans on here and other forums.

For ref, I am using a pair of DT-770 pros from Beyerdynamic, which work perfectly with other devices, and with the same phone through the Apple lightning to headphone adaptor. Also FYI - I have also tried the device with my iPad - same problems. Both phone and iPad have latest version of iOS. Fiio also suggested I update the firmware, but offer a PC .exe file to do this. I have a mac. And there is no way to connect the lightning version of the FA11 to a computer in any case, unless someone knows how. Perhaps with a lightning to USB-C adaptor. In any case I haven't seen this issue reported elsewhere, so I think it's a fault not a firmware issue.

Quick update. Fiio got in touch on this forum and have offered to find a solution. That's nice! Will post an update if this gets resolved, and a review of a working unit, if and when I get one.

Update2 - Fiio are kindly sending out a replacement. Will review when it gets here!

I've ordered a Ka11 but am trying to cancel the order. This has happened too many times Fiio. As a customer I think you should try and test your products before selling them and hope for the customers to do that. It's normal that this would happen once in a while, but not that these many products need to be fixed soon after release. Not buying recently released products from Fiio in the near future. At least until they show they care about the products released and not only about the number and how fast they release them.

Most of users (including me) are happy with their units. Faulty units were exchanged by Fiio. Everything is okay in my opinion.

May I ask what happened to you? Please tell me. Let's see what I can do for you.

I figure I would order another KA11 to give it a try after the first one burnt out after 2 weeks of use.... Let's see what you got Fiio.

This dongle seems to be out of stock everywhere for the last 3 weeks, you can't even find it on AliExpress. I have pre-ordered it from hifigo long ago, so when is the next batch supposed to hit the market?

Managed to snap up the last one from a UK online retailer, really impressed it thus far powering the Grado SR325x, shame there is no gain levels in the app as I'm at comfortable listening level at just 2-3 volume clicks up from 0!

The older Android should have it. Can't confirm if this is true, I've heard that volume is a permanent setting, if you set it with an old android phone, then the dongle will remember it even when used with iPhone.

Why? What's wrong with 0.8?

We're on 0.8 already!?, I thought 0.7 was the latest, I'm currently on 0.6, I would like volume control in the app. (Android),

Just grabbed the 0.8 FW off Fiio's site.

You set an appropriate volume value in FIIO Control. It will save. Then you adjust the volume on the playback device
