I have just purchased some Oppo PM-3 cans and would like to get them some more power for my music.  All of my music is a minimum Lossless 24/192.  I am trying to decided if I want to use my iPhone with the Oppo HA-2 or use the Fiio X5ii.  I know that these are two different devices and it is not comparing apples to apples.  I guess I am more wondering if the Oppo being the same price as the Fiio would sound significantly better since it is only a DAC + AMP and not a DAC + AMP + DAP for the same price.  I am willing to deal with the hassle of a separate dac + amp with my iPhone if the sound is that much better.

i would go for the fiio x5ii just because i dont know about the dac on the iphone. i've heard its really good but not great but thats my opinion good luck on your buy

The Oppo allows you to plug into the iPhones lightning port bypassing the phones DAC allowing the Oppo to act as the DAC and AMP.  If that changes your opinion.

Actually as an amp the oppo is pretty good so i would take it besides i wouldn't mind taking it if you would still have to take your phone and dap. So i would go with the oppo it with the pm 3
