I'm using the X5 with the ATH-M50X and listen to everything from metal to classical music.
Has anyone else noticed that the EQ has very little effect on the actual EQ-ing of music? My biggest issue is that when trying to add some lower end (bass) to songs with some very impressive double bass drumming and prominent bass guitar I can never get it to sound even close to what the same song sounds like on my ipod classic and basically get now low end. Even with all the low frequencies pushed all the way up it sounds bright and trebbley.
I have/had the FiiO E12 which has the bass boost function and basically did what the X5 wont but it is now a paperweight after a faulty battery (see the separate post here) so I'm getting a bit frustrated with my 'premium portable player' which is not exactly impressing me as much now that the 'new' factor has worn off.
Any tips or input?
