Fiio X3 USB problem.

Great. I tried to upgrade my unit with new firmware but it isn't working. Sadly i may have to send it back.

Sorry to hear that.

I know that having to do so would cost you a bit of time, away from your unit, but you may find yourself in a better position with yours than I am with mine. With the Service Center either repairing or replacing yours, you should wind up with a device which should be TOTALLY correct. In MY case, I don't know WHAT caused the malfunction, which is to suggest that it could very well happen again. I had done nothing different, from before, so I have no idea as to the reason why.

But let me know how things fare for you, when you get your music partner back.

Back here to let you know that my X3 has fallen back into that pit, of before. Don't rightly know what's happening, but assume that my unit is on its way out. Man, what a SHAME.

Bro i know what u are going through happened with me twice on 2 different x3ii. My supplier is soo kind to allow me replacement again.
Change the way u charge your device try via laptop only. Urs is jack problem which probably can only be soughted out by repair or replacement.

Yes, I AM connecting (now) via the two USB ports on my laptop - though the problem persists. At the start of these ills, I had assumed that there might have been an issue with the ports, themselves. But I fell back on the realization that none of my other USB driven devices were faltering, in any way. No matter the cabling used, or the USB port connected to - nothing about my situation is bettered. Of course, one might think that it shouldn't be an issue, since files can still be managed by implementing an extra step, or two. But that isn't the way that ths unit is SUPPOSED to work. Besides, (and because of the lack of recognition) removing the SD card and inserting it into an external reader, means that I can only have access to what's ON the card. Nothing can be done with the X3's internal storage because of its inaccessible state. The files that are on there would have to remain there - no additions, no deletions.

I sure do hate this ?

Just did a little researching, and found that the warranty period was not as lengthy as I had thought it might've been. It turns out that I am WAY OUTSIDE of the coverage period.

I am now doing better, again. Having just read an Amazon review from someone who had the Fiio X3 2nd edition, there was an advisory to be sure and format the storage card IN THE UNIT. Now, my X3 is the 1st generation model, but I wondered if doing that might make a difference. So I formatted the card in my unit. When I connected it to my laptop the card WAS recognized. I unplugged it and, a very short while later, plugged it in again, to see if the same thing would happen. Sure enough, it DID. So, I am hoping that this is what the issue was.
