I literally just got the X1 and I have the card formatted and updated. Whenever I drag in songs/folders and manual update it only shows certain songs. First I dragged in my entire library and it only recognized 1 album out of 245. What am I doing wrong? I can see all the folders/albums in the browser but not in the music section.

Perhaps your songs do not have ID3 tags?

Joe,
Can you please explain this statememt? I'm sure that I'm not the only DAP rookie that doesn't know what this means!

I do understand that most CDs have invisible data embedded in them, but often I purchase albums from Amazon where I find that I either had a rotten Windows Media Player, or the data on the CD is mixed up in the wrong order!!!

Phew!!! Mucho Complicado!!!

Cheers again.

Try downloading mp3tag to inspect, edit or add ID3 tags to your music files

FiiO X1, maybe other models? Issue with MP3 files not playing.

This may or may not be helpful in your case. I found that many of the songs would display error "File Not Recognized" or "Format Not Supported" after loading them onto a fresh MicroSD card. To troubleshoot the issue I inserted the card into my computer to view the file properties. I sorted the columns in one of the folders containing problem mp3s by bitrate. After doing so, I noticed all of the problem files were not showing the bitrate. I went to the folder the mp3s originated from and the bitrate was displaying properly. I copieda sample mp3 to the card overwriting the existing file which was not showing bitrate on the card. I then loaded the card into the FiiO and it now plays the good copy of the mp3. It totally sucked but, I replaced all of the files not displaying bitrate and they all play now.

After all of this I realized the problem files were mp3s that I was playing in an mp3 player on the computer at the time of choosing them to load onto the card. It must not have copied all of the bits in use by the mp3 player at the time I copied the files. All though many players can play mp3s with bits missing and the ear may not notice, it appears the FiiO cannot the file if it's missing any bits. To prevent this problem in the future, Do Not copy files to the card of device while playing them.

Problem Solved. Hope you found this helpful. Don't worry, your hair will grow back.
