FiiO X1 II (2nd Gen) w/ Bluetooth!

just a heads up that there are other options in the same price range, like the shanling m1, m2, m3, and m5, you may want to keep your options open. i wouldnt get the x1 ii at this time, due to the firmware issues. i had to return a x5ii last year after a lot of problems with two units i tried and now i own an x3 ii. never owned both at the same time. from memory i can tell there is a sound difference between the two, but not night and day; i think that sound quality alone doesn't justify the price difference, but x5 ii has two card slots and a better screen.

Thanks.
I feel i am getting closer to what i want to get,
Some of your sugestions appeal but are hard to obtain in the netherlands,
X3 is looking better and better,

You might mean X3ii - not x3.

It is a great DAP, and while it lacks some bells and whistles that X5ii has, it is worth it's money.

If you have the chance to test X3ii and x5ii, you might want to - the differences between them are rather large to my ears, but it's not better or worse. They feel like different signatures!

You can convert ALAC to FLAC very fast and easy using foobar2k (which is free

I know and I've done it for some files, but I have 100's of ALAC files and will take a long time and a lot of work to convert them all.

Apologies if the following issues were raised earlier in the thread, but I've noticed on both FW 1.0 and 1.2:

1) Bluetooth streaming doesn't work for any hi-res files (> 16 bit or > 44 kHz). The X1ii just says "file format not supported" and it moves on to the next track.
2) Occasionally, when waking from deep sleep mode, tracks play at double speed. The only fix seems to be rebooting.

Are these known bugs?

Hi, greyparrot
Yes, there are still some audio formats not supported by X1II in bluetooth mode:
AIF: 16bit/24bit-176K and above
AIFF: 16bit/24bit-176K and above, 32bit-88K and above
APE: Fast: 16bit/24bit-48K and above

Normal: 16bit-48K and above, 24bit-full sampling rate

High: Full bit depth-full sampling rate
Apple Lossless:16bit-64K and above, 24bit-48K and above, 32bit-full sampling rate
FLAC:16bit/24bit-64K and above
OGG: 64K and above
WAV: 32bit/64bit-full sampling rate
WMA: 16bit/24bit-above 48K

How can they claim support for these formats, then not support them in Bluetooth.. Definitely a show stopper for me.. I have terabytes of 24/96 FLAC files!

Cheers,

Hi, csglinux
Could you please tell us the TF card you are using and send us some music files play at double speed? We are trying to reproduce that problem and fix it. Thank you in advance.

hi FiiO,

they said they can do 1 to 1 exchange but no stocks. so it has been not used for 2 weeks i guessed.

Hi, etoilebiscuit
Sorry for that inconvenience. Maybe you need to use that for some time and wait until next batch be sent to your seller.

The battery drops rapidly on standby. drained on standby at the end of work so it's pretty bad.

I'm a long term FiiO fan (orig x3,e12a) but (very) sadly returned the x1ii within 24hrs. The screen is merely sansa clipzip standard.
T think I'm gonna rebuy a used x3 1st Gen for the same £99 (better screen)

Hi, thecfg
Thank you for your kind feedback. We will try to improve the display of the screen in the future.

depend on your computer but lossless to lossless conversion should be very fast. Much faster than lossless to lossy

Apple uses .m4a for both ACC and ALAC, and I have both, I must first check a file in each album to find if it's ACC or ALAC then convert if ALAC.
I have about 2000 ALAC and 6000 ACC files. Also, a cover file must be created for FLAC files that is not necessary for ALAC files.
Conversion is fast if the file is on a computer but to convert a file on a microsd it's slower. I'm using microsd cards from my X3 that are loaded with files.
Are the restrictions on bluetooth playback common with other HiRez players?
