I sure hope the update comes out soon, cause I really like the X1 II, but the bugs are just ruining it for me. The response time via Bluetooth is terribly slow, but this is something I can live with. However, not being able to connect a device via BT? That's ridiculous. It took several times to finally get the Xiaomi Bluetooth Audio Receiver to work. Also, I really hate it when I turn the screen on to check the song that is playing, and a completely different one shows up. What's up with that?

Dear friend,

The song shows up in the screen is different to the one you are listening? Try a factory restore?

Best regards

Hi, I have an iPod Classic (160GB) in wich I have some ALAC albums.

My question is: Will FLAC files played on a Fiio X1 II sound better than those ALAC files on the iPod?

I guess that the Fiio has much modern and better components, but I don't really know if it will be a difference in the quality and clarity/detail of the sound, because the ALAC is also some sort of losseless file format.

The headphones I use are Grado SR60e, Audio Technica ATH-M50x.

Sorry for my english and thanks in advance :)

Dear friend,

Are there any local store in your country? If yes, you may have a try there first: http://fiio.net/en/stores

Nothing wrong with your English. :)

To be honest.. I think the difference will be minimal. Personally I prefer flac for the fact it's better supported. Sound wise I've done a blind test once and with very careful listening I was right about 75% of the time but the difference in sound quality is very small.

Will the X1 sound better than the ipod? That's a matter of taste I think. Personally I find the X1 to be a bit better in the details than the ipod but again to my ears not a huge difference. What an X1 does bring you is ease of use. Take an SD card, put some files on it and just play. The X1 supports a much wider range of files than your ipod.

If you want a serious step up over the ipod I think you'd better save up and see about an X3 or even an X5.

Tried searching but could not find an answer.

If the X1 is paired with a smartphone using Bluetooth would it act as an intermediary between the earphones and the smartphone? In other words, if I get a call on my smartphone will I be able to use the remote and mic on my earphones to answer the call and talk normally as if the earphones are plugged directly into the smartphone? If not, would I at least get a notification that I'm receiving a call.

It is annoying to use a dedicated DAP and not hear one's phone ringing, thus missing calls.

Dear friend,

It may depended on your Bluetooth headphone instead. It would need to support using with two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

Best regards

It isn't a Bluetooth pair of earphones. It's a standard pair using a cable. The idea is to have the phone ring through the DAP. I will quote myself from another thread:
I do not want to stream from the smartphone. I prefer to use the DAP. The problem is that if use a dedicated DAP I miss a lot of calls, as I do not hear my phone ringing.

Even if I am not able to use the remote and microphone on my earphones to answer the incoming call and talk, at least a signal of some kind would be nice, i.e. the phone to ring "through" the DAP so that I know I'm getting a call so I can pause the music myself, take out my phone, and accept the call.

I really like this player, it looks good and feels good - but it has a number of glitches.
The most important glitch to me is the not-at-all perfect gapless playback. Will this be addressed in the near future?
As I already wrote in your own forum - you should seriously consider to engage the Rockbox guys to develop a really good firmware for your DAPs
