The following changes and improvements have been made to the FW1.4.7 compared to the FW1.3.2 on M5:

1. Added a battery level display icon on the lock screen clock page.
2. Added a new option of "Long press volume button" in the System Settings menu, where users can decide which function to achieve by long pressing the volume button under bright or off screen. (Adjust volumes, switch tracks, fastforward/rewind are available.)
3. Added a new function of Replay Gain (in the Playing Settings menu).
4. Added a new function of user defined EQ.
5. Fixed the issue where the system would be stuck at the Welcome page after the device turned on.
6. Fixed the issue where cue files could be repeatedly put in My Favorites.
7. Fixed the issue where errors might happen when switching / skipping tracks and in UI display.
8. Fixed the issue where specific operations might cause a frozen system.
9. Miscellaneous bug fixes and performance improvements.

Note: For the stability improvement of the M5 system, the software has readjusted the system partitions. So, it would be impossible to revert the firmware once upgrading to the newest one. (A prompt of UPDATE FAIL would pop up if reverting the firmware.)

I've updated M5 from 1.1.1 to 1.4.7. The update was done to 100%. Then the player restarted. There "Fiio Born for Music" and it does not go any further. I turned the player OFF and ON. There's still only Fiio Born for Music. Did I get a brick?
What shall I do?

Dear friend,
Please try to downgrade the firmware to this version first: http://fiio-firmware.oss-us-west-1.aliyuncs.com/M5/1.4.6/M5.zip

Then update the 1.4.7 firmware again for check.

Does the problem still remain?

Best regards

I've re-done the upgrade again by holding the volume up button and power button to enter upgrade mode and releasing the button. Everything worked out smooth.

By the way do you remember you promised that the problem with Russian tags will be solved in a new FW? Well, partially it was fixed. I mean only for mp3 files. Flac and m4a files are still read like Chinese hieroglyphs. When will it be fixed?

Dear friend,

You could provide all the words or music files to us. We will report to the engineer. We failed to reproduce the problem via just a letter.

Best regards

I posted this request here more than a year ago (i.e. Sep 4, 2019). Quite a time, don't you think? By now the problem has not been solved. How much time more does Fiio need to fix the problem of Russian tags in m4a files in Fiio M5 player?

Here you'll find the exact description of the problem proved by an image.
Dear friend,

Is it the words in the picture the only words having the problem? If not, please provide other words having the same problem to us as well. We will provide to the engineer for check.
Thanks in advanced!

Best regards

If not, please provide other words having the same problem to us as well.
Why do you need other words in the tags which M5 can't read? None of the words in Russian language in tags can be read. Please find 3 more different tags which can't be read correctly.

Dear friend,

We failed to reproduce the problem via just a letter or the words we have. So if you are convenient, please send the words to us instead of a letter or picture. Then we could report to the engineer for check.

We will report to the engineer for checking about that.
Hi Fiio,
Y thought you'd never reply to my post.
The thing is that it was reported to the engineers long time ago. The problem persists.

Dear friend,

They will try to fix in next firmware update.

Best regards

Dear friend,

We have recorded and reported to the engineer. But the problem with character library may not be quite easy for them to solve.

Best regards
