Granted I am an iBasso fanboy and I own the dx220, but I think this price is too expensive without any innovations . We all know Hiby is working on the R8 with built in sim, and iBasso is working on the dx220max which looks like a Kann Cube.

Does the dx220max still use a battery like the dx220

? isn't that an old dap with a single AK4490 though. M15 is a 3rd of the price of the equivalent TOTL A&K SP2000 with the same 2 x AK4499 if it sounds at least a 3rd as good then its about right ? I suspect it will be closer than a 3rd though.
Yes, but new Kann Cube is only little more expensive. Fiio was a company of affordable DAPs. For 1300$ there are more competitors with more features. Sony WM1A f.e.

I was very hyped for M15 but now I am disappointed.
$1300 is overly expensive. Importing this into EU will cost around $1600 which is unaffordable for many
Identical screen, CPU and RAM
Still stuck at Android 7
No new features or functionalities so far
Heavier, 310 grams vs 232g M11 Pro. Also thicker
Probably has shorter battery life due to power consuming AK4999 even through more mAh battery
M15 Pro will be released shortly. Wrong marketing strategy

For me M15 is born dead.

I wish they would put a sim card slot in more DAPs. Stream on the go.
I get what your saying however that would add a level of complication since they would have to get carrier approval plus certain markets would mean these players get a load of carrier bloat ware. For companies these size it's headache they don't need. Just create a wireless hotspot from your phone

Welp, the M11 is still hot off the presses, and the M15 is already out. This is getting a little bit out of hand.

Anyhow, I've read something about a "third gen FPGA technology" being used in these. Anyone has any ide what is this about?

Now I'm glad I didn't wait and went for the M11 on black Friday with 20% discount.
M15 is more than 3x the price of the M11 a few weeks ago.
For me, it's in another league ...

Look forward to the first impressions from people, who can compare the different systems ...

For me M15 is born dead.

- Same CPU / RAM: The fastest processor in the market, hands down beating anything else. What more do you want?
- Identical screen: Are you going to watch HDR Netflix on this? Why do you need a better screen?
- Stuck wit Android 7: And what about this? What's the added benefit of a newer Android on a media player?
- No new features: DSD512 capability, current output DACs are not new enough features for you? Just as a reminder, the only other AK4499 based device with DSD512 is SP2000 with a price tag of $3500 / €3800.
- Heavier thicker: This is not a beauty contest item, it is a music player.
- Shorter battery life: You don't want it to be thicker, but you don't want a reduced battery life. Interesting...
- Wrong marketing strategy: How many music equipment products have you developed until now, how many companies did you run, and how successful were you? Would FiiO be considered successful if they just did what you want, rather than run the company themselves?

There are things that are going wrong in the player market at the moment, but the reason is more the useless expectations of the consumers.

If the feature list is almost the same as previous flagship then It needs to be seen if the SQ upgrade justifies the price difference.

The so called "feature list" might look the same from outside (in the end, it is a music player) but for the sound quality, it is all about the HW. SP2000, for example, has a weaker SoC / processor. Cayin N8 has the weakst processor of them all (a single core MIPS). They have also less SW features, but they are the top sounding DAPs at the moment.
