I was reading up on the L9 and found that it drains your battery faster since it goes through the apple charging port. I am using an ipod classic 160gb with etymotic er4p with a go vibe petite amp. Is there any difference in SQ b/t using a LOD or just the simple cable? Thanks

An LOD is definitely better since you prevent bi-amping which may introduce distortion.
