Received the K11 today. Set up very easy, no issues. It’s a surprisingly small compact unit. Feels nice enough though and sits on the desk and stays there.

First impressions? Goodness me, this is a very nice ‘entry’ level piece of kit. Powerful in balanced mode and drives the Sennheiser HD 660s2 and HD600 with ease. Using the NOS (no filtering ) worked best for me. Clean, clean sounding. Great detail retrieval. Enjoyable with plenty of room to go very loud.

I’ve owned the K5 before and this easily surpasses it. I’ve owned the K7 and to be honest I actually prefer this K11. I own the K9 (Standard Edition) and this runs it fairly close IMO. Not in the power output stakes but I really think it comes close in sound.

Early days of course but I can say right now that this K11 is a mega bargain at the price. Give this little thing an audition and I think you will be well pleased.

Dear friend,

Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear about that.

Best regards

Presume that the power input is compatible with the PL50 PSU?

Tried the K11 today. Maybe I'm the wrong target but the old k5 pro AKM is significantly more detailed.

That being said as long as you don't mind the extra smooth and bouncy signature(which I find strange since it's a CS based dac/amp), it has pretty crazy levels of driving power and can power he6se nicely.

Abit disappointed since I was hoping for KA5 signature with mains power to drive but I guess you win some you loose some.

My "old" K5 Pro AKM is an excellent audio product and I hope it continues to perform for many years to come.

This has been my general feeling "upgrading" in this hobby. It's always you gain some and lose some.

I haven't find a straightforward "upgrade" to anything, let it be headphone, dac, amp.......etc.

So much trial and error and money down the drain......

Here's a review of the Fiio K11:

K11 5.jpeg

it is a very affordable DAC/Amp that furnishes a neutral signature, with huge power on tap. Hiss-free, doesn't get warm and comes in a small profile for a desktop device. Definitely a decent choice for an entry-level source.

TLDR:

Pros:

Solid build
Very small and light in profile
Multiple input and output options
6 DAC filter options, beautiful LCD display
3 gain settings with good power on tap
Neutralish tonality without colouration
Smooth but detailed treble, transparent midrange
Good technical chops for the coin
Does not get hot during usage
Hiss-free

Cons:
Highish output impedance on balanced output may not synergize well with low impedance transducers
Some rival amps may have a bit more power, but the K11 should still be able to drive most gear out there
No pre-amp function

Thanks for the review.

What do you mean by " NO pre-amp" function?

On the K7 by comparison there is a line out (fixed level output) as there is on the K11, but no pre-amp (variable line output) to feed a power amp on the K11 - unlike the K7 which does have one.

But each has own volume level. Right ?

In other words, may I set Headphone volume say at 10 and pre-out at Max (at the same time) ?

Yes you can each has a separate saved volume level. So when you switch between LO and PO it remembers the volume level of each
