FiiO K1--smaller and better for less
Jan 8, 2017 at 7:08 AM Post #361 of 408
Hi to all!
Does anyone else notices this weird problem with K1, or maybe do I have a defective product?

When I have my K1 plugged to any of my PCs, the screen will never turn off.
I have my PCs to never go to sleep but turn off the screen after 5min,

My main PC has windows 10 and the other one windows 7.
If I unplug the K1 my screen goes black as normal.

Thinking of either the K1 or the Q1 to use as my laptop's main sound source.

Is there really no way to boost bass on the K1?? Maybe using windows settings?

Dear Lifted Andreas,

You may set the low frequency of the EQ in the player with higher dB value to see whether it helps?

Best regards

MY IMPRESSIONS:

I got my K1 today, it a perfect price for me and was bought primary to use with my XMG custom gaming laptop (from 2013) which has the Realtek ALC892 codec. Honestly I wasn’t expecting much improvement but it’s definitely noticeable, the upper frequencies are sharper, mids have become silkier and low end is more refined. Overall sound resolution and musical detail has improved noticeably over my built in sound codec. I totally recommend it to anyone looking for a better sound from their laptop.

Conclusion - amazing thumb sized DAC with top notch internals for the price!

I wouldn't buy this if you think its gonna be fully compatible with your Android phone, because chances are its gonna take a lot of fiddling to get it to work. So if you want it for this purpose then look elsewhere, however some people on Head-Fi have managed to get it to work with their Nexus 6P and Galaxy S6 (using a usb hub)

---

PROS:
Amazing internals for the price.
Sound quality
Build quality
Better than any cheap USB sound card, unless you need other outputs/inputs in which case you should be looking for an interface.
Easy to set up

CONS:
Cable a bit flimsy
No gain switch
No bass adjustment

Nice review. I love the K1 for most of my low impedance, sensitive stuff.

Il co per adattare all'iphone è originale?

Dear fabrick87,

Are you asking whether the K1 can be used for the iPhone?

You may use a genuine Apple Lightning->USB adapter (Camera Connection Kit) (CCK) for help.

Best regards

I just got my K1 today for use with my new 1More Triple Driver IEM's...

I have to say it sounds AWESOME, the 1More's blew me away a few days ago when they came in but unfortunately I could only listen to them with my HTC 10 because everything else made them sound muddy (like my iPod Touch 6G).
The thing is its very hard for me to listen to music from my phone as I have so many notifications all the time (and usually am using the phone) so I decided to pick this up after some research and seeing that FiiO is actually a good brand.
I spoke to one of my friends who is an audiophile too and he (while not having any FiiO stuff himself) told me that it is a good brand and he had heard good things about it.

Plugged into my laptop (XPS 13 Skylake) this thing sounds great, I would say its about 92-95% of the quality of the HTC 10 sound output with just as much if not more output power (although I don't use boomsound on the 10).

I picked this because it has a TI DAC with a very flat response and great reviews for accurate reproduction, the graph of this little device is pretty incredible for the money and it surely delivers!

I was actually surprised at how small it is, on Amazon it looks so much bigger that when it arrived today I couldn't understand the small flat bubble mailer they left by front door! (I didn't bother to read the dimensions prior to ordering as I don't plan to use this on the go anyway).

I'm currently using it with Spotify with Equalify Pro (default settings, just K1 selected for output). After I finish buying a house I'll order a O2DAC Desktop version and see how well it compares (they actually both use the same DAC but the K1 uses the old version).

Looking to get a K1 and just wondering--. I have a ton of songs on itunes and various ipods and iphones. Is there any way to transfer these itunes songs to the K1? I really appreciate any feedback. I'm clueless. Thanks!
