Hi. Wouldn't it be better if the cable had an L shaped connector instead of the straight one?

Better in terms of what? The cable that comes with the FD5 is pretty solid.Hi. Wouldn't it be better if the cable had an L shaped connector instead of the straight one?
I just mean it would project less. FiiO obviously thinks so, as most of their new cables have the L connector.

I see what you are driving at. Compared to my other iems that have a straight connector, the one on the FD5 is only oh so slightly longer, even though it includes the swappable plug.
L-shaped plugs and straight plugs have their own advantages. Many people also prefer straight plugs.

Well, after frustrations with the KBEar Believe's filter system, Amazon tells me my FD5 will be in tomorrow. Paired up with a BTR5. I guess I'm officially a fanboy LOL.

Yes S8F is V but I don't find anything recessed or elevated to be fatiguing, on contrary S8F gives me clarity and detail... Without stepping wrong anywhere. I took a listen a couple more songs on FD5 last night and good example of what I'm talking about would be song Wait from Maggie Reilly. I like this song her vocals are in the forefront of the mix, on S8F I go for volume button for enjoyment and exceptional clarity while on FD5 I go for volume button because that sparkle in mids is missing so I'm trying to compensate.
I'm not saying that FD5 is bad not at all, it has many strengths but comparing it with S8F would be little unfair it's totally different setup internally. But just from presentation of the (higher) mids I'll take S8F any day. Bass is insane on FD5, listening Blade Runner 2049 OST is mesmerizing experience.
I agree with you on S8F being a finely tuned iem. I just got the FD5 and the first thing I missed is that sparkle S8F delivered in Upper Mids and Highs. FD5 has a more natural tonality to the mids (like the ER2XR) though and the lower mids are better on this. On the other hand I’m pleasantly surprised with the imaging and detail retrieval the Fd5 has got especially it being a single DD.

One BIG use for L plugs is on portable devices that are liable to get bumped around a lot. It's significantly safer.
Yes , I believe that use is why they were designed in the first place.
How is the imaging, separation, and soundstage of FD5 compared to S8F?I agree with you on S8F being a finely tuned iem. How is the imaging, separation, and soundstage of FD5 compared to S8F?
Soundstage - FD5
Sepetation - S8F
Imaging - about the same
Tonal accuracy & Timbre - I like them both
Bass - FD5
Mids and treble - S8F
Overall tunning and balance - S8F
Isolation - S8F
Fit - S8F (FD5 is great as well for its design)
Technicalities are very strong on FD5, I tested them with most demanding metal tracks and I cannot find anything to complain about.
how will FD5, play with Sony 507. The player itself is darkish, removes pain at high frequencies?
