FiiO FT1

Not necessarily, I purchased the Beech version from Ali Express only a few weeks ago and received the older screw fix version with a tight screw but a loose fit, (ie gap between the metal plates) on the RH side which I managed to take apart and fix.

After messaging FiiO they are sending me the newer replacement circlip fixings for both sides, expected very soon but I will keep these as spares unless the screw version becomes loose.

Having said all this, these headphones look and sound really great for the price so I'm OK with that small amount of inconvenience. Paired with a Qudelix-5k and using its parametric eq I really cannot find fault other than an obvious lack of the spaciousness that comes with my open back headphones.
Thank you… What store did you ordered from? Could that be the reason for a the sudden shortage of the FT1, specially the Beech color?

Since for some reason Fiio does not send the FT1 to my country anymore (Mexico), if I order from any other Aliexpress store, I guess I’ll be receiving the old screw ones. Isn’t it?

The pads feel a bit awkward on my ears though. Not uncomfortable exactly, but it feels more like on-ear than around ear (I guess I have pretty big ears). I've noticed a lot of stuff on Aliexpress isn't really available anymore, so I wonder what the best options for pads are now?
I bought these from AE and don’t want them. You are welcome to them if you cover shipping

Those links are broken for me, a problem I've noticed with a lot of items I was looking at previously... tariff uncertainty I guess.

Yeah those web pages are gone now! Can send photos tomorrow

AliExpress & yes it's the original screw version. FiiO sent the replacement circlip fixings when I messaged them but won't be used unless the screws become loose which seems unlikely.

Yeah, I'm thinking about trying different pads as well. This article from Dekoni says their TH900 pads pair well and looks like an option I may try:
https://dekoniaudio.com/articles/the-fiio-ft1-experience-with-dekoni-audio-earpads/
The Dekoni TH900 pads do work very well with the FT1. I have them and they're great. They barely change the sound (if anything, they slightly improve it, more clarity I guess) and they feel nicer than the stock pads. But, if size was an issue with the stock pads, it's gonna be an issue with the Dekonis too. The ear opening is either the same or a tiny bit smaller on the Dekonis, so while they feel much better than the stock pads initially, they get uncomfortable in exactly the same way after a while, as my big(-ger) protruding ears touch the walls.

TL;DR: If size is your issue with the stock pads, stay away from the Dekonis. If it's materials quality, they're great.

The YunYiYi pads on Amazon that are "compatible with ATH-AD700X AD700S ATH-ADG1X" are a great match for the FT1, too. A larger opening, for sure. I also cut the silk mesh off the back of the pads and my ears really just float inside the FT1 now. There is a black and a brown variant. I have the black along with the beech headphone and it looks fine.

I've already sent out an email, hopefully this gets fix without any additional expenses

FT1 has landed. Listening them from HQPlayer + Holo May + Holo Bliss. Initial impressions are very good. Just needed to turn pads "backwards" so that the seam is some 1-1.5cm above the front screw and now bass stays nicely inside.

I'm quite amazed tbh. I'm so jealous for the new listeners as I literally paid 10x the price for my MDR-Z1R back in the day and the tonality of FT1 is clearly better fit for my taste. Yes, the build quality and comfort of MDR-Z1R is out of this world, but still. Once FT1 are in head, there is no missing out. Now I just have to let the new toy syndrome settle and then see how they compare to TC, Susvara and Monarch MK3 once I know them better. For newcomers FT1 is a no-brainer recommendation.

Can you compare the sound quality in detail with z1r and mk3?
