I think that besides (possible) quality control, it could also be a design issue. Any type of force and movement of the earcups including putting the headphones on, removing them, x/y pivot, pressure when wearing them for long periods rest on dem little screws. Hmm...
Interesting about the screws breaking. I’ll keep it in mind if it ever breaks on mine as it does seem like it’s a weak point; luckily haven’t had any build concerns with mine yet and I’ve given them a lot of use the past few months and I haven’t really been careful with them other than making sure not to bump the wood cups into anything. At least it’s a cheap and easy fix if it does happen.
My FT1s fell apart after six uses and I babied them. Headband screw. Those screws are incredibly tiny and delicate. I suspect this is going to be a thing for many. Anyway, went to hardware store and M4 0.7 8mm worked well for a replacement. The other headband screw looks like it's going to fail soon as well so I bought an extra set for when that happens.
Pretty new to pad rolling here….I’m curious to know how folks who are using pads meant for the LCD series are attaching them to the FT1, if LCDs use glue or glue tape. Do the Dekoni LCD pads for instance come with the required flap to hook it onto the lip of the front baffle?
I found the FT1 Pro to have a smooth character, which became more pleasing the longer I listened. The sound never became tiresome or “too much” in some aspects of the tuning.
Xmas arrived a bit late this year, now the budget trio is complete. I prefer the FT1 Pro material and flat form factor personally when handling it vs the wooden FT1 with the bulging cup, felt good on the head too, like others have said, possibly slightly higher clamp which is more suitable for my tastes but it still feels just as comfortable on the head despite the slight increased weight, it's not really that much noticeable, it's nice to wear such a light planar magnetic headphone for a change. The stock pads are very slightly softer/squishy too.
So far haven't noticed any rattling sound on my pair, the vent part is solid in place and no other rattling from inside the cup.
Mine fell off on 1 side after only 2 days and that is not acceptable at all, even if you can fix it easily if small things are your thing and not mine. So doubt i will buy it again even if i liked the sound and the JT1 is a much better deal so far. And only if they fix this problem i might buy it again.
