Would i notice much improvement in audio quality if i purchased a full size headphone amp to what i am using now, which is the fiio e7 with the ipod 2nd gen and grado's rs2i.

You'll notice some improvement.  You'd best get a better DAC, too, then you'll really be jammin'.
