Does anyone know if you can use the fiio E7 as an amp and a DAC simultaneously?

I assume that's a yes. Is driving power lost when you are using it as both?

Nope, it's designed to be used as both an amp and DAC at the same time.  But it's not particularly powerful either way.  If you have really hard to drive headphones, you'd probably need the E9 too.

The E9 is only an amp so you still need the E7 with the E9 to have the dac functionality.

You need a dac so you can hear sound in an analog form, rather than a megahertz-frequency digital bitstream.

I use the E7 as both and it works great.
