I purchased an E17 for use with my HD598's... I've currently got the E17 hooked up via USB to my PC, and have the E17 in USB-mode. The mixer in Windows shows there is sound playing, yet I cannot hear anything.
 
OS: Win7 x64
MB: ASUS M4A87TD-USB3 (AM3 socket)
CPU: Phenom II X4 955
 
I have ASIO4All installed, as well as FiiO's E17 drivers (FiiO USB DAC-E17 ACPL)

I just tried the E17 on another computer in my house, and it worked fine. Came back and tried it on my computer, still does the same thing with no sound output.

I had this problem too until I figured out I had to select the E17 on my music player even though I had it set for default on my laptop. Look around in your settings of whatever program you are using to play your music, see if there is a selection for the E17.

The 'SPDIF interface' should be the default instead of the 'SPDIF out'. That's how my E17 is configured to my laptop.
