FiiO Desktop HIFI Active Speaker Concept Design
(6)This concept design is different from the previous ones. It is a two-way crossover dumbbell-like design with three drivers, an aluminum alloy cabinet + a rounded metal mesh enclosure.
This design features premium material and sound quality, while its appearance is relatively ordinary even though there were few desktop speakers using such acoustic structure on the market. Relatively speaking, the columnar design fits better with computer monitors, and the dumbbell-like acoustic structure is easy to acquire better soundstage and more accurate sound positioning.
However, it looked too ordinary. So we abandoned it.

Today, we would like to make a summary of all the concept designs shared over the last few days. It should be noted that these are conceptual products without much consideration on the design, craftsmanship, cost, and realization of functions. So we can just take a simple look at it instead of taking it too seriously. For some designs that involve functionality, we have applied for patents in advance. Therefore, there may be opportunities for these concept designs to become actual products in the future. But the main purposes of sharing them are as follows.
First, to make the development behind the product more transparent, so that users can understand that it is not easy for the birth of a product. Not only will it take a lot of time (some projects can take up to 3 years), but there may also be many failed schemes. There are many reasons for the failure. More importantly, a product developed with hard work may not necessarily be successful and be received by the market and users.
Second, to share concept products is to introduce some of our styles and design directions of our future products to potential users in advance. Therefore, we can also learn about needs and preferences by interacting with consumers.

Several days ago, we shared some concept designs of speakers, which have acquired a lot of attention. As for earbuds, we also have some abandoned design schemes. Here, we would like to share some of them.
The first concept design shared with you today is earbuds with a 3D printed resin shell that combines the FA series. Outside the earbuds are protected with a metal grille decorative cover. Different colors and textures of metal and resin materials are a great contrast.

Appreciation of earbuds concept design (2) Metal flat-head earbuds
Flat-head earbuds are considered a niche product, but they have always been adored by many users because they will not get deeply into the ears and are comfortable to wear. In addition, they have relaxed sound performance with a wide soundstage. From the 1980s to 2000 in history, it was the golden age of flat-head earbuds, when many famous models emerged which are still praised by users.
The following flat-head earbuds come with metal outer shells, while the back shell is designed with an irregular shape instead of the commonly-seen rounded/oval design. The grille of the metal mesh at the front is also ingenious.

This design scheme is based on the concept of "mecha" after the birth of the M17. The metal shell with concise lines and cut surfaces is dashingly aggressive. In addition, it features the popular semi-open acoustic design, which is our favorite design to use on our new earphones.
It is a pity, however, that because we did not realize to apply patent for this design, a new product with a similar appearance showed up on the market. To avoid unnecessary criticism, we had to give up this design.

The design of this set of earbuds was inspired by the jet engine of the spaceship. The three raised engine compartments are muscular, and the highlighting metal shell is innovative with a sense of futuristic wonder.

It is hard to give a right name to this kind of design. But in the future, FiiO’s industrial designs will come with a more rugged style. We have also made some attempts on earbuds. The concept design shown below is based on cutting, coupled with a ventilated mesh enclosure and a semi-open cavity. In general, it is quite hard to design rugged style earbuds.
