I've just received my unit and I'm experiencing issue with it.

During idle/when sounds are not played, a constant buzzing and hissing sound can be heard in the background.

I've tried using different 3.5mm cables and other earphones however, they all produce the same buzzing/hissing sound.

Is there a way to fix this or is this a defective unit?

No, I mean the BES2700IHC chip has LDAC + DAC inside, but the datasheet doesn't mention the bit depth and sampling rate capabilities of the DAC processor.

Even if the LDAC can transfer 24/bit 96Khz, the analog output quality still depends on the DAC capabilities right?

Yes, BES2700IHC chip receive data via LDAC, then submit the data to the DAC inside to exchange it to anolog data. DAC inside can handle 32 bit and 384kHz data.
