I have some hiss that I would like to remove. I was thinking about ferriting(sp?) the mains cables and rca that will go to my dv 336i (when it arrives).

Good or bad idea?

Ferrite only work on power and antennas cables. Not on modulation cables.

Well, what equipment are you using? A simple solution would be an impedance adaptor to raise the impedance on your headphones. If the hiss is AC related, try a power conditioner. If it's EMI/RF related, try shielded cables.

Im using a beresford dac hooked upto a rotel ra 04 stereo amp via a belkin silver series 'crystal copper' rca. Also employed is a tacima mains filter / surge protector. Bow down and open your wallets when I say this is a what hi fi 5* product. It does make a difference to my lg42lc2db panel though... Also use an mk double gang unswitched socket. I've done everything that I can. sparks, re-wiring etc. It is now pissing me off. Phones are 32 ohm grados, goldring 150's & a few wierd phones of unknown impedance + a set of hd 650's.
