DeinRadio on fleabay would be a good shout to source for EU, any tube I've had from them has always been as described. Just thought I'd mention it...

Still thinking about the Brimar CV1988s, but have become more curious about the Electro Harmonix Golds. Much cheaper, less risk since they're new. Has anyone heard these EH Golds and recommend them?

I run the WE on the Envy with Sylvania 6sn7w short bottle, Brimar 6sn7GT and CBS Hytron 5692.
From my point of view, these three are different, but each fits the WE perfectly.

Sylvania: very good resolution, great stage presentation and great bass. A neutral to slightly warm tube.

Brimar: big stage, typical British warmth

CBS Hytron: Soft transients and a neutral, warm tuning

Very good seller from Germany:

If I had to start over again - I would just buy some D getter 6sn7gt Brimars from Langrex and call it a day. I don’t think they are the best match - at least with my chain - because they are heavy in the midrange and Envy doesn’t really need that kind of help - I like more treble extended tubes that also pack a lot of punch and bass. Every tube I have purchased from Langrex has just kind of stunned me - to receive a brand new tube that is 70 years old, etc. On some level - Langrex is kind of a miracle and I think they know it - in a way they are doing us the favor. New production tubes do not have the reputation of lasting very long. I don’t see any reason to invest in them and find them more risky especially the Chinese one with their bizarre tier system. Old school 6sn7 tubes just don’t have a reputation of burning out really (a fact that eBay sellers will exploit in my experience) - so if you can get a TRUE new pair that you like - you are set. If you are paranoid about ordering from Langrex they are also on eBay where the buyer sort of has the edge on the seller (unfairly so but I’ve had good luck selling on there) - so here’s Langrex on eBay where you can find a much more limited supply and you’d have to reach out to match a pair and see what they say but I order direct where it is easy to ask for matching and see that they have a ton of supply - enough to put together a pair.

This is helpful, thanks! I was about to buy a pair of Brimar CV1988 from here: https://www.nosvacuumtubes.net/product/british-cv1988/
But, are the 6sn7gt worth getting over those?

EDIT: nevermind, I do see that these are indeed 6sn7gts!

I use WEs as well and Brimar sounds like a good match with them for what I like. I don't need an adapter for the Brimars, correct?

The Brimar CV1988 are excellent with the WEs and you don't need an adapter. I purchased mine from the same vendor.

that looks like a cool US supplier of tubes but i'm paranoid of rebrands and would like to see the getter before investing 450$+
Brimars have what looks like pop rivets which are just visible here above the top mica.
