Thanks guys! The Envy really is a beautiful l amp with finesse and power. All my headphones never sounded better. For years I haven't touched the HD800 and LCD-2 and now they're part of the rotation.

@incredulousity What are your top 3 TOTL driver tubes for the Envy? Might want to snag some new ones ;) ... any Frankenstein adapters is fine :)

Nice.
I would advise to get some socket savers if you're gonna start down the tube rolling rabbit hole.

It actually makes it quite easy to change them out. @Deyan made mine and they work well and quite inexpensive too.

The Melz for example are actually quite fiddly without them.

🙂
+1 on the Deyan socket savers. They are smooth like butter. :)

So happy to join the Envy family expecting many years of enjoyment.
Waiting for the Mo and Melz to warm up...

Go big or go home.
I follow your advice on buy once hurt once mentality and has worked out well and much appreciated. So far I have just the Mo and EML Mesh and will pick up the Takatsuki 300b when opportunity arrives and I'm set for power tubes. I have plenty of the 6SN7s and 6F8G variants for years of owning the WA22.

I got a chance to listen to the Takatsuki the other week but not for long unfortunately. They did sound like a nice warm but robust sound but I couldn't really get a proper impression with only 10 minutes play. Certainly a different flavour to the MOs.

Instead of the Takatsuki, try and find some KR-Audio 300B Riccardo Kron Anniversary Editions. IMO MUCH better performers than the Takatsukis. The Tks are too polite and thin. The KR/RK are big and bold. Bear in mind, none (IMO) compare to the Elrog Mos. Personally, I'd invest in some other drivers like the Tung Sol Black Glass Round Plate 6F8G and adapters, which should set you back less than a grand total.

I haven't heard the Taks but just by reading forums reviews they have extended high with a little emphasis on upper mids which I prefer. The Mo/Melz has plenty of bass so I'm all set there.

Yes I've been looking out for a pair of KR AE from reading your posts/recommendations but never seen them on sale. I already have 2 pair of TS BGRP 6F8Gs and alternating them with the Melz and the Envy sounds amazing with them.

Why not the WE300B instead of Tak? Covers wider flavor gamut. Tak will be like lesser Elrogs per some.

You're absolutely right! The WE300b with Melz probably a good combination. So many options so little time LOL.

Thank you. Wow that’s still so far away. Sad London doesn’t have any in the city

Is there an easy way to get a matched pair of the real 1578 Melz (for EU people)? I know that there are different versions and the one desirable is the anodized hole plate version. Ebay ranges up to 1000€ for a pair and has fakes.
I found this site:
https://www.nostubes.com.au/search?q=melz+6sn7&options[prefix]=last
The price is very high, but it's probably real. They also have the normal metal base one for 280€.

The one on the left isn’t a 1578. On the right looks legit 1578
