Feliks-Audio ELISE...New thread.

New Elise owner here! Love the sound and already have some driver tubes on the way to roll. Would folks also say power tubes impact sound as much as drivers in the Elise? Would you venture to provide a rough percentage between the two? I was under the assumption that driver tubes always take precedence for impacting sound.

I also hear an improvement over my WA6 from brief listening sessions, such as more soundstage, and perhaps that’s partly attributable to three versus four tubes for example…?
I wouldn't say the increased soundstage has to do with an extra tube some twin tube amps can have a very wide soundstage, my darkvoices with one 6SN7 & two 6j5 tubes sound as wide as my Elise.

After you burn your Elise in you will notice a vast improvement with your Elise.
I bought my Elise mk2 about 3 -4 weeks ago as a X demo model that he said it wouldn't have even been burnt in yet which I thought a bit strange but after me using it constantly for that 3-4 weeks it got warmer & now sounds excellent. I am running old tubes rather than the factory ones though.

Right! I was not even considering sonic changes with break-in. Sometimes I think it could be cycles of use versus continuous use that allows electronics to settle in. I’m sure both have their impact.

Reminds me of my original question about sonic impact between rolling driver versus power tubes.

On some amps the driver tubes are responsible for the most change i have found like the darkvoices but on the Elise both make a difference.
Continuous use with my Elise on, volume down & headphones connected while I'm watching DVDs not listening to it is what I do with my new amps. Same if I'm burning in tubes.
But just having listening sessions will do the same but take a longer period of time.

Really impressed with this Elise with very little burn-in. Although the WA6 has exquisite build quality this Elise, from initial impressions, sounds like it’s on another level.

I also have the wa7 fireflies third generation with old mullard 12au7 tubes in it & it is the amp I go to when listening to planars because of the very low impedance level, it doesn't wash out the bass like the other amps.
But my favourite is the Elise when it comes to a laid back tubey sound.

I'm deciding to buy my first otl and I chose Elise, I wanted to ask you which headphones do you like to play with this jewel made in Poland?
I would connect it with a Dac Audio gd or with a topping D90 first series with AK chip. Do you think they marry Feliks well? Thanks to everyone I'm trying to calmly read the 926 pages trying to understand the world of valves that I don't know anything about.

I like my sennheiser hd700 headphones the best with the Elise mk2 & thats over the HD800s, beyerdynamic t1 2nd, beyerdynamic dt1990pro & ZMF Verite to name a few.
Also the focal clear og is really nice with it.

ZMF Headphones work well ;)

Elise will bring some colour to your chinese DAC. For sure you will like that. With tube rolling you have lots of fun ahead. Enjoy.

Do people have good results using KT88’s? Anyone running KT88 power tubes that have run into issues with the adapter or Elise warranty? I’m curious about using these tubes, but wary of any issues it may cause.

These tubes also seem like a good option as there seem to be many new and relatively inexpensive options out there.

I’ve reached out to 1101 Audio which I found on this thread for KT88 to 6AS7 Adapters.

I,ve used the equivalent of KT88 (GEC TT22 and TT21's) on Elsie and still using on Euforia, for at least 5 years and had no issues what so ever.

Where did you get your adapters if you don’t mind me asking. I understand faulty adapters could be a potential issue, unless maybe it’s also an issue of an increased load on the Elise or something else?

Any recommendations for quality EL34/KT88 to 6AS7 Adapters out there?
