I need a new fax. Does anyone know how to get one that gives the caller an option of sending a fax or calling. There must be some way. Like for the fax to ask the caller to press one to call and press 2 to send a fax. I need suggestions, if not, then I just need one that has an "fax on - off" function so that I can use it as a phone line when the fax is not in use.

To be honest, I dont know how to operate a fax machine.

Most of the consumer models I would think do this...

A fax machine does not require a data/fax line to operate. Any standard phone line will work.

The fax we have monitors all incoming calls for a carrier signal, and will automatically engage if it is a fax. Phone rings like normal otherwise, so you might get blasted if it is a fax, but it works
