Favorite sites for discovering new music?

I tend to use Youtube and then checkout the other recommended songs. Amazon wishlists that other people have created is another good method. Another regular site is bandcamp.com...lot of new artists broken down by genre. You can listen to individual tracks or whole albums as often as you like before buying. I have found loads of new music this way.

Bandcamp and Hypemachine are really interesting options! Still none that match the criteria in my initial post, but good nevertheless :)

I like just browsing tags on bandcamp. I love that they have FLAC too :)

I wish you could search more than one tag at a time, like what if I want RnB tag and soul tag, like I wanna see albums that have both those tags. Very annoying...

Thanks for the thread, and all the recommended sites are proving interesting...

But actually, this is all new-to-me music (or perhaps newly released music) ... and I am always on the lookout for new music, period.

The OP mentioned a "similar to" entry, and "new music" is music that has no "similar to" (and often, no "genre").

PS  If this is too tangential to the thread, let me know and I will move it to its own thread (each site has different standards for such things).

Yep I love using Bandcamp, its great I have found a lot of great music off of there, and like Jtaylor991 says it has FLAC which I love!

since your looking for new music here is a few bands I have found on Bandcamp that i like.....

http://harbourband.bandcamp.com/
http://cloudkicker.bandcamp.com/
http://ezrafurman.bandcamp.com/album/the-year-of-no-returning-digital-album (This band is AWESOME!)
http://sauce.bandcamp.com/album/forge-through-future (great techno-ish music that is great to play some starcraft 2 to)
http://iamwren.bandcamp.com/album/nostalgia

A lot of the bands on bandcamp have a name your price for the albums and I find myself buying them once cheapish and then some times buying it again up to three times just to support the band, because I don,t buy music to own it I buy it to support the bands.

It is shocking to me that a site, with the features described in the OP, does not exist.  Someone needs to get on this stat!

I use many of these sites (though I refuse to pay for Spotify, since I feel they screw independent artists), but none really conglomerates all of these features into one, easy to use site
