I would have to pick the SR-007BL. Although the K1000 does a really nice job as well, but not quite as natural and accurate.

It's amazing how everyone in this thread recommended their own headphones.
though having a DT880 I'd recommend K701 (Don't know your budget but is seems a reasonable buy for performance).

not true I'm not recommending my K701s, hd650s, hf2,esw9as or any of my previous phones D7000, HD800 etc..

I'm a huge fan of Bach's cello concertos and for that I reach for the Sansui SS-100.
It just does wonderful things with cellos.

May be a reason why they own the said headphone... because they really like the sound it puts out.

Then how can you recommend it other then from hearsay...

Just rhetoric remark but people in general recommend the headphone that they find best for strings. Hardly anyone have owned every headphone in the planet and the answer would probably not be the same anyway lol

AKG K271 are great with violins and cello
So are my Denons, I thought they'd be harsh sometimes with high pitched violins, since they are pretty ruthless in het highs with poor recordings, but no nasties at all.

Both Audio Technica's I have sound a bit plastic with violins as if you listen to a synthesizer doing strings.
The A500's can grate with high pitched strings.
