That makes me so mad! Dracula is a great film, but it was so early in the days of talkies, they didn't have a way to mix music in like they were able to later. I always thought that if they took a symphony orchestra and adapted the scores for the other Universal horrors, they could make Dracula the greatest of all. They could even take the film on the road with live accompaniment. But they went and picked Philip Glass, who noodled and doodled all over, totally flattening out any drama in the film. Now they'll probably never do a proper score for the film. I hate Philip Glass's guts.

My personal favorites would have to be:

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Star Wars (1977)

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (composed by Howard Shore)

There Will Be Blood (Composed by Jonny Greenwood)

Soundtrack for the Film More (Pink Floyd)

Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks (Brian Eno)

Battlestar Galactica (Bear McCreary; not a film, but a great soundtrack nonetheless)

I'm a Dracula/Vampire flick fan myself...

Not saying Philip Glass did a bad or good job, but here is an alternative song for the 1931 original:

I like the later 1992 adaptation (perhaps because it reminds me of my late teens.) I like these two songs from that movie:

"Love Song for a Vampire" from Dracula (1992) by Annie Lenox

"End Credits" from Dracula (1992) by Wojciech Kilar

That Annie Lennox's song is a nice complement to the soundtrack of Dracula.  However I don't like her singing in Into The West for The Return of the King.

Hi. Long time lurker, just created an account to add this to the pile:

It's a game soundtrack, but it's brilliant: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, by Michael Mccann.

Here is the link for the Dark Knight Rises Soundtrack. I just finished listening to the whole thing and I'm even more excited for the movie now. It sounds like a mix of The Dark Knight and Inception.
