Psycho - Bernard Hermann
Days of Heaven - Ennio Morricone
Band a Parte (Band of Outsiders) - Michel Legrand
One from the Heart - Tom Waits
The Shining (not really a soundtrack but great music by Bartok and Penderecki, and a good version of Dies Iraes by Wendy Carlos).
Oooh how I love soundtracks! Of course everything by John Williams is awesome, as others already noted.
Now I can not believe nobody mentioned The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford soundtrack
or any other soundtrack made by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, for that matter.
I really encourage everyone to listen to this masterpiece.
And the Brothers Bloom OST by Nathan Johnson!
Both amazing movies with the most beautiful music!
Film soundtracks take up a substantial amount of my listening:
Inception - Hans Zimmer
Atonement - Dario Marianelli
Batman Begins - Hans Zimmer
The Dark Knight - Hans Zimmer
Up - Michael Giacchino
Road to Perdition - Thomas Newman
Kingdom of Heaven - Harry Gregson Williams
Tron Legacy - Daft Punk (remix album is even better IMO)
X-Men First Class - Henry Jackman
Star Trek 2009 - Michael Giacchino
you forgot to add Hans zimmer. Daft punk actually only did like one or two songs for Tron. Hans Zimmer actually composed most of it. shame Daft punk gets all the credit for it when they were basically assisted and helped by Hans Zimmer himself.
