Er, excuse me, you can take the cage off. It's optional, just undo the screws. But yes, it really is far more attractive without the enclosure.

EDIT

Anyway you can hook up a sub to the itube amp? i've got one with the standard speakers, but the speakers suck at bass. Tips for different speakers would help as well.

Bumping this because I want to share a bit of my experiences with the Fatman.

So far I'm statisfied. Yet I kind of regret that I bought it. It isn't as versatile as I would like it to be and the speakers that come with it are a bit lacking as well. I upgraded those with two xendak monitors though which improves the sound quality significantly. It handles bass well, but it still could be better. Anyway, I'm not complaining (since I still am statisfied) but if I could've gone back in time I would've probably gone for the Nuforce icon (even though I haven't heard that one, but you can at least hook a sub up and isn't as expensive, considering I had to buy speakers anyway).

THe docking station delivers splendid sound though, very clear sound, good bass, etc. HOWEVER: you can only turn it on with a remote. And when you break your remote the docking station becomes useless. This decision is just plain dumb IMO. The remote is really fragile, small and can easily be lost. My batteries ran out and I now have to get new ones. For a remote, which I haven't even used more than nine months or so.

FWIW, the iTube can easily be had for $399, brand new, from reputable sellers. I have never heard one, though.

I have bought very similar looking but labeled as HTS not iTube with docking station and all. And it only cost me $80 brand new. But I think they made a mistake in pricing. It is not very powerful amp but for my small size office, it was more than enough to give good sound. It includes a headphone out and it has a decent headphone sound but not great. The best feature that I used all the time is the included separate iPod docking station which is great with a remote.
