FatMan ITUBE

i compared it briefly to my mint amp in store (selfridges london) for about 10 mins. (with e5c) i thought that the headout sounded veiled, fuzzy and unrefined. cant comment on the speakers as the enviroment was less than ideal. i cant say i was impressed at all. the output seemed really low too, for what its worth.

$750?! For a Dared MP-5?! Ouch, baby. You have to ask, is the ipod cradle really worth the $400 over the standard Dared?

The Fatman version isn't the only Dared ripoff I've seen, either. Must be a few companies buying from the same factory...

Anyone heard one of these?

Could it be worth $750.00

Curious is anyone owns one?

I own one. See here:

It is excellent and easilt the best speaker system for the iPod that I have heard. Look at some of the new amps that they are building too.

To the poster about the headphone out, this is a speaker amp with a headphone socket, not a headphone amp, so sure it will be cr@p.

To the poster saying it is a Dared rip-off, I would be very careful that TL Audio don't see that stupid remark (if they do I will happily watch them suing you!). This is a generic design made by various maufacurers such as Sonic, Vuum, Dared and TL Audio (Fatman).

I thoroughly recommend that you listen to the iTube, you will be very impressed. I used the Chesky CD 4 Ultimate Demonstration Disc and the iTube performed extremely well.

so are you saying that its not a rip off, but a re-badged off the shelf product made by someone else for BUNCHES of people?

Since when did merely calling a product a copy cat make it grounds to sue someone? Has America really become this litigation happy? You seem a bit sadistic in stating how you'd "happily" watch someone possibly lose many months/years of their life and possible large amount of funds in a legal suit...

The phrase used was 'rip-off' and is suggestive of illegal copying of someone else's design, which is ample cause for litigation. The OP should be more careful in choice of words as I am sure TL Audio would not be best pleased to be accused of ripping off another company's design.

The design is generic and many manufacturers make what looks like exactly the same unit. The internals and tubes used vary I believe. TL Audio, who manufacture the Fatman iTube, are well known for their tube guitar amps. I spoke to them personally and they have tweaked their design for the iTube, and they have developed other, more expensive and more hi-end amps for iPods too. The speakers in the iTibe kit are designed and made by TL Audio.

So what you are saying, is that I could post a comment on an internet message board, claiming that the Toyota Camry is a ripoff of the Honda Accord, and then Toyota could sue me for large amounts and imprison me for many years because of that comment made on an online message board? Sorry, but our country is not that corrupt yet and there is still freedom of speech and the right to your own opinion, and being able to make your opinion public.

Search for dared mp-5 in the Amplification forum. There is a long thread about it and several people; including me, are very happy with it.

The Fatboys are pretty interesting looking. They'd probably have great imaging due to their diffraction-reducing shape, but I don't see how they can consider it a full range loudspeaker with a -3db of only 60Hz. Any idea of a price on these?

Why would seeing somebody get sued make you so happy?
