FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More
May 5, 2023 at 11:39 PM Post #676 of 2,017
So how was it? Is it the best iem you have ever heard? Was it worth the money?
Clearly it is, as compared to my old JH16pro.

To actually show the strength of GM, "Chicago XXXVI : Now" album 1st track "Now" (impressive vocal separation with instruments) and 2nd track "More will be revealed" on how the sub bass blends to the vocals. No dips and distortion. Impressive vocal separation. It just pops out.

However, there is 1 ear bud that can (at this moment) compare to that of GM's bass. Devialet Gemini. Ok not fair comparison as its a wireless and really, besides bass, nothing compares.
The run in helps to place GM in its place. Will run in further and test it later tonight.

In short, I am happy.
Lastly, I am in for supporting local entrepreneurs. Fatfreq is really worth that support. They had created a gem.

Well done Fatfreq!!

I recently bought a universal Grand Maestro from Musicteck and it didn’t come with the blue pressure relief modules. When I asked why they weren’t included, I was told they need to be purchased separately for SGD $130. Does anyone know if the blue modules are included for free if you buy a universal GM directly from FatFreq or is it also an additional cost?

I've got a pair on order right now from FatFreq directly. I've reached out to them to clarify this. If I gotta pay more, that sucks, but I'd like to find that out prior to them sending out the shipment. Appreciate you bringing this to my attention. The review from HBB sure made it seem like both modules came with.

Unlikely that I'll hear from them till Monday on this. Will keep you posted.

Thank you for confirming. It seems that if you buy a universal Grand Maestro from MusicTeck, you will not receive the blue modules. Quite disappointing, honestly. I think FatFreq need to rectify this or at least make it clear to potential customers because Andrew from MusicTeck didn't even know his stock wouldn't include the blue modules until he asked them for me directly.

I'll see if there's anything I can do about this. Thanks!

Hmm.. I did ask when I collected my GM.
Both are same modules, except different colors. Function wise they are the same.
Correct me if I am wrong.

I asked and it sounded different they said. One is bassier than the other. CMIIW.

what's the diameter on the modules? Looking from the shape alone, it looks like it would be compatible with 64 Audio Apex modules; that would open up a whole new world of possibilities for tuning them.

seriously the thing has close gauge to the Code 23
Bret, Have you listened to GM or MSE on Code 23 cable? do you like the sound?

In the end, after several months spent since the end of 22 years with other IEMs, including at Elysian acoustic and Effect audio Gaea, I finally found the opportunity to order FF MSE... should receive them in the middle of the month. I'm waiting it.
I already have Effect audio Code 23, this is a unique cable, it is of the PW 1950 level, while it does not ruin your wallet. Adds fat, mass and meat to the mid-bass, mid-frequencies, amazingly expands the sound stage. The most amazing thing is that he does it all without losing a single gram of detail and clarity. It doesn't add warm and sounds neutral. Here is the real premium copper. One feature it behaves like a monofilament wire. it does not bend itself, but it is pliable in all directions and twists perfectly.

Hi guys could someone who has heard the rn6 please comment how it compares to the Maestro se? Would it be an upgrade? A person is looking to unload it near me, very tempting. Thanks!
I would say it is more complimentary. The MSE has a different tuning to the Rn6. The MSE sounds nothing like the Rn6. It sounds like nothing else I have ever heard!

The Rn6 is a little closer to the GM than the MSE to my ear. It has more laid back but slightly fuller upper mids than both Freqs, but it has technical performance up in the treble that is enabled by the venting modules for it and the GM.

The MSE like the name suggests is a specialist... there's nothing else out there that has quite that amount of sub bass delivery while retaining clean, capable mids to this extent.
