FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More

the QUANTITY of basses is less than the IKKO OH10.
Hi, I'm a little surprised to hear the OH10 has more bass quantity than the Maestro Mini. Can you give a little more info about this, please? I also enjoy the OH10's and after looking at the FR graphs, they seem somewhat similar from the mid-bass up through the mids and treble, obvi there's some difference but generally, they look to follow a similar line, with the MM having a big boost in the sub-bass being the biggest difference.

Maestro SE still not shipped yet (ordered Dec 5), they said up to 10 working days. So hopefully by the end of next week and I’m hoping to have it before Christmas!

I read on the Maestro SE thread that a member was told they are working on a large order that may add up to three weeks to fulfillment. Can’t verify if that is true of course and their website doesn’t seem to have changed.

I ordered on the 7th and was hoping to receive by Christmas as well.

Edit: Ah, I see that was in response to your post, so you’d already be aware. Cheers.

FatFreq V2 is or soon will be available (according to Reddit). New color (who cares?), new stock 4.4mm cable (I do care). Tuning is the same I assume.

Attention FatFreq, you are not making you friends by adding a grill on the nozzle and upgrading the stock cable on such a short notice. Want to built a solid and sustainable customer base? Think before doing such things... your marketing strategy is going the wrong way boys & girls, excepting if you want to milk your customers and generate high profits as quick as possible, at your own risks. Your products are good and manufactured with care and attention. You mean it good, but don't get excited too much. If you can afford it, hire a serious PR specialist or someone in your network who can do the task properly. Rant over.

Unfortunately, accessories will be the same with the MM OG. This cable is from XINHS. V2 has 5db more bass compare to OG as per Fatfreq.

FatFreq told me in an e-mail
"The MMV2 is 490USD. the MMV2 is a monitor with improved bass and treble response from the V1."

Then they shared a brochure with me...

To me, the MM was already treble heavy. You can see my collection below and the MM has the most treble of them all, and I find it a bit too much. Hope they listen to feedback and make at least one version with a warm signature.
Damn 2 bad i bought v1 month ago :frowning2:

V2 sounds perfect, grill on nozzle so wax will not go in, better stock cable 4,4mm and ofc 5+ db on bass holy crap !
Im using EQ on MM because i still need more bass, deafult is not strong enought :D

So it's possible that dont need eq on v2 but who knows XDD

Wholeheartedly agree.

Going by Crinacle's graphs, there very well might be tuning changes with the V2 as there are on other V2s Fatfreq has made.

Another observation is that they have a bunch of earphone models (22 since 2016). That gives me the impression they move at a pretty rapid pace which is awesome but will no doubt trigger fomo with some folks (me included).

I wouldn't blow things out of proportion here.

This industry has one of the fastest product release cycles, and its customers tend to have an even shorter attention span.

There are tuning changes based on user feedback in this upcoming version. Give them some slack - they are learning. There are no negative intentions here.

Instead, I'd take this release in a positive light as it shows they are willing and able to listen.

Just a suggestion!

Congratulations! I Look forward to your thoughts!

Anyone had a chance to compare the MM Mini with the Empire Ears Legend Evo?

The low-end comparison would be nice, but Maestro SE would be more accurate for the price range.

I also came to know from FatFreq team that MM V2 will be released early next year, I decided to cancel my order hope they will cancel so I can buy new one early next year.

Hopefully you'll enjoy it!

FR graphs can be tricky and don't tell the whole story. Measuring is very nuanced. Here's another comparison and here you can see that the OH10 has more mid bass. Even though just a bit, you can hear the impact..

The OH10 has copper shells and titanium coated drivers and have a solid weight to them, and that contributes to it's sound and heft. Also, when looking at graphs, sub bass doesn't have the same value as mid bass as the mid bass is what we hear more of. Depending on the song of course, some songs don't have that much sub bass at all. So some songs will feel more low end on the OH10's. Hope this helped.

And to agree with Sebastien above, as a Bravado mkII owner (very similar signature to the Legend Evo's and by the same company), they compare more to the MSE with the EST's. There's a different spatial feel of the treble with EST's, and can be heavenly when they're not overdone. As I said before, hoping FatFreq comes up with an iem in between the MM and MSE. $400/$500 to $1800 is a huge gap and should be filled with an $800 DD/2 BA/2 EST winner. I mentioned this to Ben (along with a little more push up on the mid bass) and he agreed with me and is looking into it. I hope to have to have this iem one day, pre order on day one.

I have been listening at both Iem (Ikko oh10 and MM ) again to try to clarify my opinion. This is only valid for edm (Giuseppe Ottaviani for example) which has got sub bass and mid bass string impact. A part the fact that the MM needs more power than the Ikko 10H, I would say that the MM sub bass is deeper than the IKKO and the separation is better on the MM. Mids and treble are as well warmer on the MM than on the IKKO. I still think that the IKKO mid bass does impact more than the MM but at the cost on mids.

Often price has nothing to do with how much someone might enjoy an iem, but Evo is loved by many like the mini.

Words to the wise! Wish more people would keep this in mind when keeping things respectful in discussion.

Price of a piece of gear is not equivalent to enjoyment.
