Hello, in my first few days of satisfied usage of the X3 I collected a few features to suggest and a bug to report:

(feature)if no headphone is connected, don't restart playback after power on but stay in pause

(feature)Pause and resume when disconnecting / connecting headphones

(feature)Back to main menu when ending playback

(Bug)When automatic resuming after power on, gapless playback is not working (maybe already solved by the future gapless playback improvements)

Thanks in advance for any feedback you will give.

1, 2 are the same design as iPod and it is very useful to most customers.

3, need more feedback about this.

4, the gapless will be improved in the future firmware.

BTW, thanks for your support to FiiO

Hello,my fiio x3 has become warm (it was turned off) and it didn't want switch on. I had to use reset.

It's the second time that this happened. what should I do? can it be dangerous for me?

thank you

thank you for your answer. do you believe I have to leave it working? it doesn 't give life signals, it only became warm.
coud it be a problem of id tag?

I don't think leaving it working will work. My best guess is that it has run out of memory while indexing and has crashed. I got mine to work by starting with the cad empty, adding a few hundred tracks, updating the library, adding a few hundred more, updating again then repeating until I had all my files on there.

we may change the UI of music library updating in the future, the screen will display how many sound has been updated into the library and the screen will keep turn on during the updating.

Reset Button
This seems to be the cure all at the moment as a quick reset will fix the PC not recognising the device and the device not recognising the SD card.
It occurs to me that there is something in the reset sequence which needs to be in the normal startup procedure, then the reset would not be required so often.
I find that the device will lose the SD card and require a reset even after being plugged into a charger with no data connection. It almost always requires a reset after connection to the PC otherwise the library update only sees the internal memory.
Is this something that is being addressed in the next firmware update?

Edit - I've just realised that after using safely disconnect on the PC a long press of the power button will put the X3 into charging mode. This will surely save some resets :)

I'm having some issues with CUE files on my X3.

I have quite a few 1h + mixes in MP3 format, for which I have CUE files. These CUE files work fine on my computers (Foobar on Windows 7, VLC on Linux), my phone (SGS3 running Poweramp2) and my other players (various Sansa players and an iPod Classic, most of them running Rockbox). But on the X3, there is a problem:

The CUE file apparently is being read, as info for the first track in the CUE file is shown properly, but when the timestamp indicated in the CUE file is reached, the displayed info is not updated. Right now, I'm listening to the 6th song in a mix, but the info from the 1st song is still being displayed. This happens no matter what method I use to play, it occurs with any of the options under 'Category' and also when I play via 'Browse Files'

I'm generating these CUE files with a homebrew script, the format of the CUE files it generates is based on the few other CUE files I have. So I guess that if there is an anomaly, that the X3 is sensitive to, in the files I used as an example, the same problems would be in the CUE files I generate.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Or can someone give me an example of a CUE file that works flawlessly on their X3? That way I could compare my files to that to find out if there is a fault in them.

I'm about to buy this baby since I have read so many good things about it.
I only use mp3 files (256 - 320 kbps) and will use IEM Klipsch Custom 3 (I know, they are old)
Do you think is a good match?

No, the straight album cues that I have used behave the same way. The display shows the album, but you can get the track details from the Information menu.

Hi James, I was referring to this functionality: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReplayGain
; files with such ID3 tags will become softer/louder depending on the set values if the DAP supports it.

I see, will discuss it with our engineers .

Any word on whether or not or when this feature will be supported? I'm not an album listener, but instead listen to mixed playlist or shuffle play on genres/my library. So this is a must have feature for me.

Thanks :)

I don't think we're seeing the same things.

I open a file, let's call it Mix_A.mp3, the X3 'playing'-screen shows: Track name, Artist and the bit/frequency. The track name and artist are not in the mp3, they are only available in Mix_A.cue. But, it does this for only the 1st track in the cue file. It keeps showing the info for the 1st track for the rest of the mix. When I go to the Information menu, all I see is the title of the mix, artist & album are blank, Genre is shown, as are the codec, bit, bitrate, frequency and duration (of the file).

I've not seen a .cue file for a mix, only for an album where Performer and Title lines are used immediately before the file for this information.
example;

PERFORMER "JONI MITCHELL"
TITLE "SHADOWS AND LIGHT"
FILE "JONI MITCHELL - SHADOWS AND LIGHT.flac" WAVE
  TRACK 01 AUDIO
    TITLE "INTRODUCTION"
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
  TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "IN FRANCE THEY KISS ON MAIN STREET"
    INDEX 01 01:55:66

This shows up as you would expect it to. Are you adding separate PERFORMER "xxx" lines for each track?
The single file and cue approach is good for perfect gapless playback, but if you are looking for a workaround for a playlist, there may be better ways of doing it. You could keep all your chosen files separate and tag them to have the album Mix_a and the track number in the order you require. Then just play Mix_a from the album menu...
