So I set up an older Sony receiver model STR-DH100 to play with the AKG's a little more and I can get them passable for me but still a bit bright/trebly? for me.

I decided on a whim to plug my other set of headphones , Audio Technica ATH-M20x, into it. Usually I use these with my iPhone and they sounded OK.....not great but OK.....which had me looking to upgrade to a better set of headphones.

WOW!!! These AT's sound GREAT now!!!! All they needed was more POWER!!!!

Alas the wife ain't real pleased with a huge honkin' receiver on the side table so it ain't permanent.
However, now I get to shop in earnest for an amp, right?
We shall see....

I can relate, because of this wonderful site I was able to figure out my Spotify has an EQ in it and now these crappy earbuds aren’t so crappy anymore. I have some quality over ear can’s coming can’t wait to hear how they sound.

Yeah folks here seem to be really free with info and help is always available,,,,unlike some other forums I have frequented where the high-enders don't like to associate with the newbs or less affluent....not a lot of attitudes here which is great!!
