Singlepower Audio is proud to announce the newest member of our headphone amp family, the Singlepower Extreme, and we are pleased to offer it to the Head-fi community, with pre-order pricing.

The Extreme is one of the most powerful and sonically exhilarating amplifiers, employing the powerful 6080 / 5998 type output tubes. With two of these high power dual triode output tubes, the impact and soundstage this amplifier is well beyond most headamps. Many other varieties of this type of output tube can be directly used in the output stages. In addition, a variety of driver tubes allow you to fine tune the sound to your sonic preferences. The Extreme will drive any set of headphones to performance levels that are “extreme”. In listening tests, the Grado RS-1’s were fantastic, and had a level of soundstage that I only thought was possible with balanced amplifiers. The Sennheiser HD-650’s have an incredible level of bass control, speed, and natural sonic profile that takes you into the music, and into the concert for an exhilarating ride. The K701’s, K340’s, Qualia’s, L3000’s, R10’s all sound excellent. We've done extensive testing with most headphones, all driven exceptionally well. The Extreme is very powerful, and suited well to drive the K1000's. K-1000 listeners will be in for a real treat.

The Extreme is one of the most powerful, and extreme sonic experiences that we have created to date. The Extreme represents a new and exciting circuit that we were able to fit into our PPX chassis. We also use part of the PPX circuit board along with several auxiliary circuit boards we designed to house the new circuitry. The sound is unique and entirely different from the PPX3 series. We loved the sonics so much that we made a last minute decision to take our prototype to the meet in South Florida to see if other people agreed. They did. Three people ordered one on the spot.

The Extreme will be released to the public On January 15, 2007. As our holiday gift to the Head-Fi community, the Extreme will be selling on a pre-order basis at a special price until January 10th. As of January 11th, the seasonal special will expire and retail pricing will apply.

Wow .... this amp looks ready for business. I cant wait to get mine.

One question .... if you use the high gain 6SL7GT/6SU7GTY for gain duty .... do you have to use the 6080 only?

Any chance of balanced model coming out? Will it fit into a single box? If so, MPX3 or Supra size? Also would one be able to drive efficient single driver speakers set up like an integrated amp in the balanced form?

Congrats!!!!! This sounds like an awesome amp to me. I would talk to Mikhail and have him add binding posts to the back for you. If the amp is able to produce a few watts you would be able to use it both ways (headphones/speakers). Let us know what he says.

Shipping will be based on location; about $35 for 2nd day air for most locations.

Well my stock Extreme is done. But he does not have the "Extreme badges" done yet. He was waiting to add the badge before shipping the amp. I told him to skip the badge .... he can mail it to me later. So .... mine should ship out tomorrow and be here by the weekend.

Impressions to follow .....

I hope I get my extreme soon. Wait a minute it doesn't matter because AKG still has my K1000s. It's been over 2 months now.
