Thanks, appreciate the update. However, I just restored the post from backup and while it looked fine in the preview. It was converted to BBcode again when i posted it and now has extra line spacing. 
 
Edit: on further examination, this appears to now only happen when the "edit thread" function is used. It seems to post okay now when using "edit post".
